Show Duchesne Lions Club Hosts Basin Zone Meet The Duchesne Lions Club last Thursday was host to other clubs in the Basin to their annual an-nual Zone meeting, which was held at Moore's Cafe, is a report made by B. A. Jacoby, president. presi-dent. According to Mr. Jacoby, representatives rep-resentatives were present from the Vernal, Roosevelt, Myton, and Duchesne clubs. Randlett was not represented. Main speaker was B. H. Stringham, former Vernal mayor may-or and past district governor of Lions International. He pointed out the advantages people of the Uintah Basin enjoy because they are living in an area that is less than 50 years old. Mr. Stringham read excerpts from a speech he had delivered before be-fore the Duchesne Lions club approximately 15 years previous in which he expressed optimism for the Basin. Another brief speaker was Lawrell Jensen, deputy district governor, who presides over this area and parts of Utah County. He announced the corning convention con-vention at Provo on May 24, 25 and 26, and urged each club to send delegates. He is a past president of the Roosevelt club. Otto Johnson served as tail twister for the evening, and Marvel Moore showed pictures he had taken of the Moon Lake area and the 1952 floods along the Duchesne and Strawberry rivers. He also reviewed his recent re-cent trip into Old Mexico by showing films he had taken. Since the affair included the ladies, each Lady Lion was presented pre-sented with a rose-bud as a favor. |
