Show P-TA Officers lust ailed; . Faculty Honored Bennie Schmiett was installed as president of the Roosevelt Parent-Teacher Association at the final meeting of the year, Wednesday, May 6. Installed as vice-president was Mrs. Howard Harrison and as secretary-treasurer, secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Norman Labrum. Mrs. Joseph Haslem, of Jensen, regional P-TA director, was the installing officer. Principals Lawrell Jensen and John Blaine are automatically the second and third vice-presidents. The meeting was in the form of a social honoring the faculty members of both schools, with Supt. Dean C. Christensen and Theron Leavitt, school board member, attending- as special guests, both speaking briefly. A toast to the teachers was given by Mrs. Rulon Anderton and a toast to the parents by Mrs. L. F. Hutchings. Mr. Blaine presented a past president's pin to Mrs. Cliff Memmott. Entertainment for the evening was furnished by the Junior High School girls' chorus, under un-der the direction of Mrs. Vola Hancock, and by a group of girls who presented several dances under the supervision of Mrs. Wanda Riggle.' New officers gave brief remarks, re-marks, soliciting the support of parents and teachers in P-TA activity next year. Refreshments were served under un-der the direction of the hospitality hospi-tality committee, with Mrs. Theron Leavitt in charge. The lace-covered table was centered with an attractive arrangement of flowering almond in a low crystal bowl, with green tapers in crystal candleabra at either end. |
