Show 38th Birthday Of liiwanis Observed By Hooseveit Club . The 38th Anniversary of Kiwanis Ki-wanis International was observed obser-ved by the Roosevelt club last night with an appropriate program pro-gram climaxed by an address on the objectives and ideals of the service organization that had its beginning in Detroit on Jan. 21, 1915. Speaker of the evening was J. D. Jones, past president of the Vernal club. Arrangements were under the direction of the Education committee com-mittee with Wilford Robinson, chairman, acting as toastmastex. A musical program consisted of a piano solo by Laura Ann Lea-vitt; Lea-vitt; saxophone solo, by Garth Tietjen, accompanied by Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, and a vocal solo by Floyd Ross, with Mrs. David Watkins as accompanist. The ladies were special guests. Two new members, Elmer Yergensen, dairy farmer from North Myton Bench,, and Denny Martin, employee of the Mt. States Telephone Co., were inducted in-ducted under the direction of the Education committee with Cliff Memmott officiating. In addition to Mr. and Mrs. Jones, several other club members mem-bers from Vernal, including President Russel Holley, and their wives were present. Two other visiting Kiwanians were Andy Norling, of Vallejo, Calif, and Charles Dixon, of Spanish Fork. Next Wednesday the club will observe National Boy Scout week, with Carl Holley, field executive for the Uintah Basin, as the principal speaker. |
