Show OIL'-- Uintah Basin Soil Conservation District News By THOMAS B. EVANS Merlin Simmons, of Leota, has started leveling 20 acres i of new farm land. He is planning plan-ning on leveling the land with his own equipment, and will level an additional 20 acres when the first is completed. S G S Art Tomlinson is leveling 5 acres of farm land at Leota. He just completed 1320 feet of i new dike, which helped to prevent pre-vent the Green River from in-i in-i updating his farm land. He plans to use the dike as a base I for a canal to carry water to I some of his higher farming land. S C S Cliff McCoy and Harold , Mc-Kee Mc-Kee are checking the water level lev-el in their test wells. By checking check-ing the wells through one irrigation irri-gation season, some very good information can be obtained which will ; help determine the location and depth of the drains to be installed. s c s Soil Conservation Service personnel per-sonnel assisted Glen Stephenson, Stephen-son, of Duchesne, to relocate one-half mile of ditch that was carried away by a -land slide. sr.S Gilbert Horrocks spent several sev-eral days working with Duchesne Du-chesne City, laying out work that had been set ut under the Admy Engineers' flood control program. ' S C S A large storage reservoir has been staked out on Blue Bench for the Bleazard Brothers. SCS Floyd Lamb will complete 1? acres of leveling this week. SCS Dale Ashby and Neil Murray are getting 60 acres of level- ing ready for the equipment on the Bill Jennings farm in Sand Pass. Bill Leveled about 30 acres last year. SCS Howard Roberts has construct- i ed 600 feet of rubble masonry and concrete ditch. This is a, part of the job Howard has done to prevent seepage losses on his farm in Pleasant Valley. SCS Leslie Goodrich, supervisor for the Uintah Basin S C D, re- ports that one or more tractors will move into the Altonah-Bluebell-Mt. v Emmons area to build ponds and clear cedars for the farmers. i |
