Show By Mrs. Merle Ross Car Crashes Into Canal Bridge; No One Injured Bill Tanner narrowly escaped serious injury when his car went out of control. on a slick road, crashing into a bridge railing and sliding into a deep canal in front of Irvin Johnson's home. Tractors and trucks were used to finally get the car back on the road. Fortunately For-tunately no serious damage was done to the car. This accident should be a reminder to those on the highways that these light snows can be treacherous. Delmer Ross left with the E. Floyd Ross family for Parker, Ariz., where he has employment for the winter. R. G. Ross went to Salt Lake Thursday to attend ' the Nut Crackers Ballet. He reports it was a very outstanding performance. Lynn Fairbanks, pf Salt Lake City, was in checking over his ranch, Saturday. Mrs. Merle Ross and daughter, Donna attended the funeral of Albert Hancock in Roosevelt, on Monday. Enjoying a lovely family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs-Chad Mrs-Chad Evans on Monday, were their parents, Bishop and Mrs. Ward Evans and family of Vernal, Pres. and Mrs. Hale Holgate and Mr. and Mrs, Irvin Snow of Mt. Emmons. Visiting at the home of Mrs. Merle Ross Monday' evening were her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. W.. W. Gurr and Mr. and Mrs. Carl McDaniel and daughers of Vernal. Mr. and Mrs, Hale Holgate were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mur-dock Mur-dock in Roosevelt Tuesday evening. eve-ning. The John Gilberts are' "grandpa and grandma" again. This time the proud parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Miller of Salt Lake. Mrs. Gilbert accompanied her daughter, Shauna, to Salt Lake, where she will spend a few days getting acquainted with her new grandson. Mrs. Miller is the former for-mer Renae Gilbert. Bobby Tanner spent several days visiting in Salt Lake during his Christmas vacation. Tuesday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Shields were Mrs. Marion Ross and son, Lanny and Mrs. Loryn Ross and family of Pleasant Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Arden Evans took their small daughter, Ann, to Salt Lake, Thursday, to get glasses. They returned Friday. Accompanying Accom-panying them to Salt Lake were Mary Evans and father, George Evans, who had been visiting relatives during the holidays, Eldon Thompson returned from Rochester, Minnesota, Sunday bringing his daughter, Mrs. Dick Campbell and children with him, where she will recuperate from her recent illness.. BLIZZARD HITS AREA December really went out with what could have been a Day to Remember, had the blizzard that struck, lasted for any length of time. Wind and snow were really circulating for about an hour.. New Year's Day was warm and springlike spring-like weather again prevailed. Mrs. Rose Gilbert of Myton, and son, Larry, of Salt Lake City, visited friends and relatives here Monday. Mrs. Bill Tanner has been confined con-fined to her bed with a severe case of pluresy. The Jim Larsen family, after a week's visit with friends and relatives, rel-atives, left Sunday for their home in Quincy, Wash. They were accompanied as far as Salt Lake by his mother, Mrs. Cynthia Larsen, where she will remain during the rest of the winter, then at Logan they left their daughter, Donna, where she will enter the winter quarter at the USAC. Mr, and Mrs. Douglas Horrocks of Duchesne, spent Tuesday evening eve-ning visiting at the home' of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Horrocks. Max Ross has gone to Rangely, Colorado, where he has employment. employ-ment. Mrs. Max Ross and children spent Sunday visiting at the' home of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Ross in Myton. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Horrocks, Marva Mae and Evan spent some of the' holidays as guests of Mrs. Horrocks' mother, Mrs, Elsie Workman in Vernal. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Hall', of Lay-ton, Lay-ton, have spent the holidays at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr, and Mrs. John Richens. Mr. and Mrs.. Byron Gilbert and family, after visiting at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert, have returned to Provo, where he will resume his studies at the BYU. Ethel Taylor of Bridgeland and Ora Holgate helped Margaret Ross quilt a beautiful dacron filled quilt Friday. This new type of batting is certainly going to add to the art of .quilt making. VISITS TWO WARDS President Hale Holgate attended attend-ed Sunday School in Fruitland, returning to Duchesne that evening, eve-ning, where' he was a speaker at the Testimonial meeting given in honor ,of Arthur Rowley, who is leaving on a mission. Robert Gilbert, the young son of Bishop and Mrs. Gam Gilbert, is on the sick list with chicken-pox, chicken-pox, Mr. and Mrs. Rae Scholes and boys of Roosevelt and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Poulson of Duchesne had New Year's dinner with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milt Larsen. Lar-sen. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Hansen and family, of Al.tamont, spent Tuesday Tues-day visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chad Evans.
