Show Former Basin Man First County Traffic Fatality The death of Nick John Cloth-akis,21, Cloth-akis,21, of Salt Lake City, former form-er Roosevelt resident, last Friday Fri-day about 13 miles west of Duchesne, was the first traffic fatality in Duchesne county for 1953. By this time last year one had been killed, and three lost their lives in 1952 on highways in the county. The dead man was the driver of the car which apparently hit a soft shoulder and swerved back across the road out of control. con-trol. The car skidded 90 feet before overturning. Two other occupants were injured. Injured were Mrs. Helen Ath-anas,59, Ath-anas,59, 241 Williams Ave. Salt Lake City, mother of the victim, and John Zervos, about 69, Salt Lake City. Mrs. Athanas suffer ed a fractured shoulder and back abrasions. Mr. Zervcs suffered suf-fered multiple contusions, abrasions abra-sions and head lacerations. Both were taken to the Roosevelt Roose-velt LDS hospital where it was reported Wednesday that their condition was fair. Trooper Howard Powell of Utah Highway Patrol said Mr. Clothakis apparently died instantly in-stantly in the crash. A coroner's inquest was conducted con-ducted at the scene by George Wilkins, justice of the peace of Duchesne. Nick John Clothakis, 21, was born March 31, 1931. in Roosevelt, Roose-velt, a son of John and Helen Bakatzakis Clothakis. Mr. Clothakis was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and worked as a salesman in the Progressive Bakery. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. John Zerbas, Salt Lake City; three sisters, Mrs. Cleo Pappas, Gusher, Duchesne County, Coun-ty, and Mrs. Kathie Van Horn and Mrs. Ann Daskolas, bcth of Salt Lake City. i |
