Show Duchesne Leads ParadeOfGradsTuesday, JF ollovJed By Tabiona On Wednesday, Altamont Is Thursday, Union On Nlay 21 Duchesne Fourteen young men and women wo-men will receive diplomas during dur-ing the 1954 graduation exercises exer-cises at the Duchesne High School on May 18. They are: Jay Abbott, Ronald Ron-ald Addley, Lynn Barker, Co-lene Co-lene Bench, 'Maxine Birch, Carol Car-ol Ann Brady, Marlene Brown, Jerry Burdick, Gary Combs, Mona Dee Liddell, GeNeal Partridge, Part-ridge, Keith Rowley, Lila Sum-1 mers and Dewey Sweat. The seniors will graduate in caps and gowns. Graduation committee members mem-bers are: Colene Bench, Maxine Birch, Jerry Burdick. Class officers during the 1954 - 55 term are Marlene Brown, president; Gary Combs, vice-president; Maxine Birch, secretary; Carol Ann Brady, reporter. re-porter. Theme of the 1954 graduation exercises is "Character is the Cornerstone of Success." The program, built around this theme, will be presented by the graduates. The class will be presented by Principal Walter Reimschiis-sel; Reimschiis-sel; B. A. Jacoby, school board member, will award the diplomas; diplo-mas; Principal Reimschiissell will give remarks ' about the school year. Tabiona Eleven seniors have completed complet-ed the prescribed course of study offered at Tabiona High School, and have been recommended recom-mended by Principal Doyle K. Swallow and the faculty for graduation as members of the class of '54. According to Principal Swallow Swal-low the commencement program will be held next Wednesday night, May 19, at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The graduating class will be presented pre-sented by Mr. Swallow, and W. R. Harris, president of the Duchesne Du-chesne County School Beard, will award the diplomas to the graduates. The program as announced by the faculty is built around the class motto, "Behind Us Lies the Path of Learning Ahead the Road to Success." The welcome wel-come address will be given by Delbert Fabrizio, student body president. Thelass has donated to the school as their gift, a new trophy case. A dance will follows the program. Those who will be graduated are: Rozella Carlile, Viola Casper, Cas-per, Myrthan Dermont Defa, Richard Defa, Delbert Fabrizio, Leslie D. Giles, Robert P. Lee, j Marjorie D. Altamont Acting principal of the Altamont Alta-mont High School, W. R. Evans, Tuesday announced definite plans for the 1954 graduation exercises which will see forty seniors awarded their diplomas on Thursday night of next week, May 20. Theme of the program will be, "And, Now Tomorrow." According to Mr. Evans, who assumed the principalship following fol-lowing the death last week of Dr. Philo T. Farnsworth, the program will begin at 8 o'clock and will be held in the high school auditorium. Miss Gayle Case has been selected as valedictorian val-edictorian and JoAnn Goodrich will be salutajtorian for the class. The diplomas will be presented pre-sented by E. L. Murphy, resident resi-dent member of the Duchesne County School Board. One former student at Altamont. Alta-mont. Lowell Bennion, will receive re-ceive a special servicemen equivalency certificate, having filled the requirements while in the armed forces for graduation. He is now living in Salt Lake City. Union High The third annual commencement commence-ment program for Union High School, during which ninety-nine ninety-nine senior students will receive their diplomas, will be presented present-ed Friday evening, May 21, beginning at 8 p.m. in the gymnasium, gym-nasium, is an announcement made by Loman F. Hutchings, principal. Graduation for the 1954 class at Union is somewhat different than any of the preceding classes, class-es, or those to come. It is the first class to have completed a full three-year course at the school. These same students entered en-tered Union as sophomores three years ago last September when the school had its beginning. begin-ning. Some of . the grads came from Alterra and some from Roosevelt High. As has been the custom in the preceding years, this year's program pro-gram will be given entirely by students of the graduating class. The only exception will be the prelude . music and the proces sional by Clyde Johnson, music instructor. Presentation of the graduates will be made by Principal Prin-cipal Hutchings and the awarding award-ing of diplomas will be by Marion Mar-ion A. Harrison, chairman of the Union High board. The welcome wel-come address will be made by Donna Ross, class president. A special feature of the program pro-gram will be prelude music by Mr. Johnson played on a Jan-sen-Lowery Piano-Organ, which is being loaned the school by the Hart Brothers Music Co. of Sugarhouse.
