Show Bad Time In Store For Unlicensed Utah Motorists Judges, county attorneys and peace officers of the Uintah Basin convened at Roosevelt Wednesday afternoon to participate partici-pate in the regional meeting of the Utah Safety Council and to hear safety experts discuss the control of traffic accidents. Men of distinction in state affairs af-fairs who were in attendance at the Roosevelt session were; David Dav-id T. Lewis, chairman of the Utah Safety Council; Hon. Roger Rog-er I. McDonough, chief justice of the Utah Supreme Court; Howard Latham, director of the Drivers License Bureau of the State Tax Commission; Clifford L. Ashton, Salt Lake City judge; Elisha Warner, State Tax Commission; Carl Bailey, secretary secre-tary of the Utah Safety Council; Rulon Bennlon, inspector, Utah Highway Patrol, and Lee Cum-mlngs, Cum-mlngs, secretary of thc Utah State Bar Association. The principal discussion centered cen-tered around the existing deficiency defi-ciency in the-issuing of drivers licenses. Speakers noted a laxity lax-ity in the enforcement of the drivers license law, and pointed out that in the Uintah Basin one out of every ' six drivers is unlicensed. un-licensed. ' A sustained drive to bring about strict licensing of automobile auto-mobile operators was announced at Wednesday's meeting, and plans were formulated to have examiners devote a full week in the Basin, starting September 15. Officers pledged themselves to strictly enforce the license regulation, and prosecutors promised to "crack down" on non-licensed drivers. |
