Show Ex-Seamen Receive World War II Awards From Navy World War II Victory and Defense De-fense medals were awarded to five local Navy veterans at the municipal building in Roosevelt, Wednesday, by Chief Petty Officer Of-ficer M. R. Boyle and Petty Officer Of-ficer Second Class R. L. Strout, of the Navy Recruiting station in Salt Lake. Receiving the awards for naval service in World War II were: Donald W. Penfield, S 1c; Forrest For-rest Hancock, WT 2c; Kenneth R. McClellan, F 2c; William R. Preece, EM 2c, and Robert R. Sather, S 1c, For the information of Navy veterans who failed to receive medals Wednesday, Chief Boyle advised that he will be in Roosevelt Roose-velt again, September 1, and on the first and third Wednesday of each month thereafter. Chief Boyle will have Victory and Defense De-fense medals with him on each of the trips, and Navy veterans may receive their's by contacting him. The medals are also being presented at all Nayy recruiting stations. As Navy recruiting officer for the Uintah Basin, Chief Boyle pointed out that membership in the Naval Reserve does not affect af-fect enlistment in the regular Navy. He stated that information informa-tion regarding Naval enlistment either in the reserve or for regular reg-ular service may be obtained from ' County Attorney Earl Dilknan. |
