Show BASIN BRIEFS Mrs. Ivan Duncan visited In Salt Lake City for several days with her three daughters. She returned re-turned home a week ago Saturday. Satur-day. , Guy Bracken, who has been employed at Overton, Nevada for the past two months, returned return-ed home last week. He is now-employed now-employed in Roosevelt. Mrs. George F. Buchanan is leaving Sunday for Provo where she will visit her daughter, Mrs. Jay Peterson and family, her son, Hayle Buchanan, who is attending at-tending B. Y. U. . Mrs. Charles E. Wimmer and two daughters, Bette and Bobbie, ' of Salt Lake City were in Roosevelt Roos-evelt three days this week, The Wimmers were former residents of Roosevelt. Bette was released . recently from the Marine Corps. Her two brothers, Clay and Duane, also served with the Marines. Mar-ines. Mrs. Ralph Scott of Provo arrived ar-rived Thursday to spend a few days visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Percival. Thora Mower was the lucky winner of the beadspread which has been on display at Penny's and at Ashton's. The drawing took place at Ashton's Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Johnson of Salt Lake City were week end guests at the home of Mrs. Johnson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russel Todd. The Johnsons are moving to Vernal where they will make their home. Mrs. Nettie Kirkendall of Roosevelt has sold her property on Route 1 and is moving Friday to Salt Lake City where she will make her home at 3600 South Redwood Avenue. Merle Arthur Kirkendall, wha is attending Mesa College at Grand Junction, Leland Kirkendall, Kirken-dall, who is employed as an electrician elec-trician in Los Angeles, and Wooclrow Kirkendall, recently released from the Navy, have been here visiting with their mother, Mrs. Nettie Kirkendall. Woodrow plans to leave Friday for Los Angeles where he will enter Polytechnic College to complete his study of radar. Pvt. Rae C. Scholes, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Scholes is now assigned as-signed to the 7th Air Corps stationed sta-tioned at 544 th Base Headquarters, Headquart-ers, Oahu, Hawaii. Private Scholes entered the service in March 1945. He was sent overseas over-seas in September 1945 and stationed sta-tioned in the Philippines until he was sent to Oahu, where he arrived ar-rived on April 18. Rae reports that it took them 28 days by boat from Manila to Oahu. They were on the outer fringe of the typhoon ty-phoon which struck in that area and were delayed approximately five days. Returns From Mission MissBeulah Percival, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Percival returned Monday evening after completing an eighteen month mission in the northern states for the L D S church. She was accompanied here by Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Percival and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Percival of Pennsylvania, Pen-nsylvania, who will spend about a month here. Wm. Percival is a brother to Charles Percival and Howard is a nephew. Mr. and Mrs. Art Brown of Provo spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Axel Birch. Mr. Brown is the district plant superintendent with the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co. Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Schmiett have had as their houseguests Mr. Ben Schmiett, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Stan W. Schmiett, Ben-nie's Ben-nie's father and brother and sister-in-law respectively. The Schmietts arrived from Salt Lake City Saturday evening to attend the Smith-Loranger wed-' wed-' ding. They returned to Salt Lake Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Whitcsell of Long Beach, California are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Collingham of Roosevelt. Roos-evelt. The Whitesells, who arc cousins of Mr. Collingham, are enroute to Illinois. Word comes from Saipan that Captain E. P. Curtis has been promoted to the rank of major. Major Curtis is the son of Mrs. Thos. H. Curtis who is visiting here with her . daughter, Mrs. Harry Gregory, and family. Major Curtis has recently been joined in Saipan by his wife and babies. PTA Officers Elected The Roosevelt Parent-Teachers Association held its annual election on Monday evening at the elementary school. Officers for the ensuing year are as follows: fol-lows: Louis Corbridge, president; presi-dent; Leland Wilde, vice-president; Ellen Rawlings, secretary; Bliss Eldredge, treasurer. |
