Improvement and maintenance of established service to the motoring public was the topic of the conference, a subject built around Continental Continen-tal Oil's presentation of its revised, re-vised, "Touraide" service. Distributors and dealers from Sand Springs, Colorado; Roosevelt, Roose-velt, Vernal, Tridell, Whiterocks. Myton, Duchesne and Current Crock heard Gilbert K. Ludwig, sales engineer for Conoco discuss the new "Touraide" as an asset to motor travelers. In a five hour session on Monday night the city council decided definitely on such a plan of action. The newly passed ordinance provides for the hiring of a competent com-petent engineer to conduct a comprehensive com-prehensive survey into Roosevelt's Roose-velt's water problems and come forth with a plan for its improvement. improve-ment. The estimated cost, the source of the needed new water supply, the feasibility of the project pro-ject and its operating costs after construction have all been made a part of the ordinance. Noticeably Notice-ably absent from Monday's ordinance or-dinance is a mention of time; a date for the commencement of the survey and a specified date for its completion. It is assumed however, that the council will take steps to expedite the proposed pro-posed survey in view of the city's urgent cry for water. Bonding Approved Section 4 of the ordinance provides pro-vides for a bonding program designed de-signed to meet the costs of the water project. Authority for the city to proceed with a bond issue is-sue is granted under Chapter 22, Laws of Utah, 1933. The ordinance ordin-ance does not stipulate the amount for which the city can be bonded, but reliable sources report the figure will be $100,- 000. It was recently decided by council members that the city be bonded to its maximum in the interest of a new culinary water supply system. Lauren W. Gibbs, Salt Lake City broker, was present at Monday's Mon-day's council meeting and agreed to finance the city in the construction of a water system. He will handle the forthcoming revenue bonds. Bids for the completion and extension ex-tension of the city's sewer line were received and opened, but acceptance was postponed until the next regular meeting. Post-ponment Post-ponment was deemed advisable in order that a public hearing might be held to discuss financing finan-cing of the sewer project. Accordingly Ac-cordingly a public meeting is to be held. Monday evening, April 1, at which the financing problem prob-lem will be threshed out. |
