Show it; ' Veal foil: s Roosevelt, Utah , ) March 28. 1946 I read in the paper the other day where 71 new federal offices had Just been created to N administer the distribution of building materials. It seems that these new offices which, by the way will employee 4000 federal workers, will restrict most of the country's building activities so that scarce materials can be used by veterans in erecting homes for their families. A swell idea one of the best. But ideas sometimes some-times are put forth to cover up actions that don't smell too good. And Bill, this seems to be one of them. For with all the scarcity of building materials and oth2r equipment important to this nation, na-tion, our own House of Representatives Represen-tatives recently approved the shipping of S200.000.000 worth of lumber, farm equipment and , what not via lend-lease to Russia L and other foreign countries V $200,000,000 worth of stuff that the American people are crying for! Maybe the lend-lease recipients recip-ients are the veterans our national na-tional government is trying to protect. You being a vet, maybe you i know all about the veterans pri-J pri-J ority which is so essential to ob-taining ob-taining enough lumber to build yourself a two by four house. Maybe you know also that the priority carries about as much weight as a Roosevelt dog tax in the City of Washington. First last and always a merchant must Zj have goods to sell, and all the 3i priorities in the world are of no avail if the merchant doesn't have merchandise. And here we , sit like a bunch of jibbering apes while our own government sends all the things that every one of us needs so badly to foreign countries under lend-lease agreements. agree-ments. That's what's happening Bill, and you mark my word somebody some-body is using the American veteran vet-eran as a cover up. For with all the 71 new federal offices and 4000 new employees going into action to see that veterans get the materials needed for building homes. S200.000.000 worth of that material is still being shipped ship-ped out under lend-lease. There isn't the slightest semblance of fairness about it. in fact, it smells several thousand feet higher than the Uintah mountains. I'm disgusted and sore about this. I don't need any of that lumber, lum-ber, but goodness only knows S there are plenty of people who - do and not a few of those in need of it are veterans. I'll get Kill over my mad in a day or two and drop you another line, but in the meantime I'm still going to think about that S200.000.000 worth of material and equipment our government gov-ernment is giving away.
