Show Distinctive Award Conferred Upon Local Scouter In recognition of his outstanding outstand-ing accomplishments in Boy Scout work, Willard A. Day, Duchesne Du-chesne county commissioner and Roosevelt business man was honored hon-ored on March 23 by having the Silver Beaver award conferred upon him. The Silver Beaver is one of the highest rewards grant- .' ed by the Boy Scouts of America. ; Only four men within a Boy Scout council receive this recognition recog-nition during a year. The award was made by the National Parks Council, one of the largest councils in the United States. Mr. Day is the only man In Duchesne county who posses the prized Silver Beaver and its accompanying certificate of recognition. rec-ognition. The certificate is signed by President Harry Truman, former President Hoover and active ac-tive scout officials of the national nation-al organization. The awarding of the Silver Beaver which took place at Provo, came as a complete surprize sur-prize to Mr. Day who is Scoutmaster Scout-master of Troop 251, Roosevelt He was in Provo to attend a scout council meeting and to engage in discussions relative to county business, and was not aware th it the National Parks Council had nlanned to pay him a distinguished distinguish-ed honor. Scoutmaster Day has been actively ac-tively engaged in scouting for twenty years. His first assignment assign-ment was as scoutmaster at Myton, My-ton, and for his untiring service In the interest of boys Mr. Dav will soon n. swarded the twenty-year twenty-year certificate. Mrs. Willard Day, who was nrespnt at the scout ceremonies in Provo, received the Beaver-ette Beaver-ette award. This recognition U roporvod for ladies who contribute contrib-ute outstanding service to the Bov Scout movement. Ray E. Dillman of Roosevelt was the third local resident whose contributions to scouting were recognized by the National Nation-al pprk-s Council on March 23. Mr. Dillman was the recipient of a thirty-year certificate. |
