Show Observer Says Russia May Fight In a special dispatch to The New York Times, Drew Middle-ton, Middle-ton, writing from Berlin, says that, for the first time, Western observers sense a feeling among United States and British officials offic-ials that the Russians are prepared pre-pared to go to war over Berlin, provided an overt act causing war can be forced on the Western West-ern powers. This conclusion is highly important, im-portant, if correct. Certainly, it is difficult to understand the motives mo-tives behind the Russian blockade block-ade without assuming that the Soviet is ready for any test of strength that develops. The dangers that lie in the present impasse are emphasized by the establishment of American Ameri-can air bases in Great Britain, The U. S. Air Force will be increased in-creased rather rapidly, we suspect, sus-pect, until the crisis is over and the occupation of Berlin subsides. |
