Show Uernalites Run Afoul Of Rent Law George and Henry Millicam, of 821 West Main Street in Ver-nal, Ver-nal, have been named as defendants defen-dants in a suit filed ag'ainst them by the Office of the Housing Expediter Ex-pediter in the Federal District Court in Salt Lake City. - The federal rent control agency ag-ency alleges in the suit that the Millicams overcharged tenants of their West Main Street housing accomodations a total of $996 00 more than the maximum legal rents. The court is being asked by the Office of the Housing Expediter Ex-pediter to order the Millicams to refund the -$996.00 to the tenants, ten-ants, aij,d to enjoin them from any further violations of the rent control law. Commenting on the case, Fred E. Ray, local area rent director, said that the case had originated with inquiries from tenants to his office as to the maximum legal rent on the establishment. "We have on file in this office," Ray said, "the maximum legal rent for all housing accomodations accomoda-tions in this area subject to federal fed-eral rent regulations. ' No landlord land-lord may charge more for such housing than that maximum legal leg-al rent. If " complaints of overcharges over-charges by tenants prove valid, we will make every effort to obtain" ob-tain" restitution of the overcharges over-charges to them. |
