Show Twelve Billion a Year According to the National Industrial Council, authoritative estimates state that the annual outlay for public expenditures ex-penditures in the United States has passed the 12 billion dollar mark. It is said, further, that spending of the majority ma-jority of this sum is controlled Dy the state and local governments. Within the space of a few years gov-ermental gov-ermental expenditures have reached proportions that would formerly have semed the wildest flight of fancy. State, county and municipal governments govern-ments seem each trying to outdo the other. As the Industrial Council points out what is needed is greater efficiency; bet ter budget methods, improved borrowing borrow-ing practices, reorganization and economic econ-omic improvement in the various departments de-partments of local governments in such ways as these can expenditures and taxes be lowered. |
