Seeks a Truck Bus Franchise Application of the Denver and Rio Grande Western railway company be- fore the public utilities commission, I for permission to discontinue operation of its passenger train service between 'Mr.ntl and Marysvale, will be backed by citizens of this section, according to the expressions of many of the prominent business men and shippers. The company, in making the application, applica-tion, declare it will substitute passenger passen-ger and truck service and that all of the needs expected by the patrons will be amply cared for. , Notwithstandine the fact t.hnt. spv- eral other applications are now on file with the utilities commission, the general gen-eral belief is that the right should go to the rail company, thus avoiding any competition that would arise should a franchise be granted to any other applicant. The D. and R. G. W. has its trackage, its stations, its rolling rol-ling stock and is fully equipped to care for all heavy freight and to supply sup-ply this, a vast amount of money has been used. Should competition enter the field, this investment would be impaired and endangered. On the Marysvale branch the applicant appli-cant proposes to operate one motor passenger bus line daily in each direction direc-tion between Salt Lake and Marys-vale. Marys-vale. This passenger bus would serve Nephi, Fountain Green, Moroni, Chester, Ephriam, Manti, Sterling. Gunnison. Centerfield, Axtell, Redmond, Red-mond, Salina, Aurora, Sigurd, Richfield, Rich-field, Central, Elsinore, Joseph, Sevier Se-vier and Marysvale. It is also desired to operate one combination motor passenger bus and freight truck daily in each direction between Manti and Marysvale, and inerrnediate points, connecting with the Denver and Rio Grande Western at Manti. The applicant also seeks permission per-mission to operate one or more motor freight trucks with trailers, daily except ex-cept Sunday, in each direction between Salt Lake and Marysvale. Applicants tor permission to operate oper-ate the bus and truck lines were filed fil-ed by the Rio Grande Motor Way of Utah, Inc., a subsidiary of the Denver and Rio Grande Western.
