Show MORE OFFICERS SOUGHT To HELP CONTROL LIQUOR Last Examination Did Not Yield E-nough E-nough Eligible Men For Liquor Enforcement The United States civil service commission com-mission today announced the second examination for agents under the bureau bu-reau of prohibition. The examination held last year failed fail-ed to furnish a sufficient number of eligibles for many of the prohibition districts. The new examination will be held throughout the country to supply the shortage of eligibles and to provide a register from which vacancies va-cancies occurring later may be filled. Applications for the examination will be received by the civil service commission until November 20. The entrance salaries for agents range from $2,300 to $2,800 a year. As the bureau of prohibition states that it will be its policy to fill the positions pos-itions of investigator and inspector by promotion, persons desiring appointments appoint-ments to these positions should enter the agent examination. Applicants must have reached their twenty-third but not their fifty-seventh birthday on the date of- the examination. ex-amination. These age limits do not apply to persons entitled to preference prefer-ence because of military or naval service. The bureau of prohibition j states that men are desired for the positions. ' The examination will consist of mental tests, practical reports based ' on the duties of the position, and a I rating or training, experience, and fit-I fit-I ness. Those who do not meet the min- , I imum experience requirement will not . be admitted to the written test. Those 1 who qualify in the written part of the examination will be called for a I personal interview and will be subject sub-ject to a further investigation of their fitness. The fingerprints of all ap-, ap-, plicants who are investigated will be 1 taken and will be used to check the accuracy of the applicants' statements as to arrest, indicment, or conviction .for crime or misdemeaner.
