Show Equality For Sugar Industry The San Francisco Chronicle estimates esti-mates that if the tariff on sugar was increased to the full amount proposed in the Hawley bill, the average cost per individual would be only fifty cer ts a year. That is indeed a small sum to pay when the result would mean opportunity oppor-tunity to produce a valuable agricultural agricul-tural crop which employs many workers work-ers and returns so much to the soil. If we do not wish our sugar supply tn be under foreign control, a suffic-irrit suffic-irrit tariff must be levied to allow our heme industry to compete on an equal ba-is with foreign production. |
