Show i IS DECLARED 01 10IJS WEEDS According to plans formed at he Court House last Tuesday with ttp farmers, the County Comimis-eloners Comimis-eloners and the agricultural Inspector Inspec-tor as the allied forces arrayed against the noxious weeds of the county there is to be 'Inaugurated a war to the death in this county. State laws have provided the necessary nec-essary machinery for arming effectively effec-tively against the common foe, the weed, which are so rapidly gaining control of the state. To set this machinery in motion a district agricultural agri-cultural inspector, Clinton Kjar, of Manti, has been appointed by the (state .board of agriculture to taKe active control of this district. The agricultural inspector in cooperation with the County Commissioners arranged ar-ranged a meeting of representative representa-tive farmers for last Tuesday in the County Court house to consider problems of this county. The sense cf the meeting was that the effective means of weed control must be developed in this county. The representatives re-presentatives from the various districts dis-tricts went home delegated as a committee to arrange for the development devel-opment of control measures in their respective communities. These local organizations will secure the cooperation of the county commissioners com-missioners and also form a point of contact with the agricultural inspector. in-spector. . In discussing the weed situation in this county with a Messenger tepresentive the Agricultural in. spector made the following statement. state-ment. Realizing the urgent necessity in the control of our noxious weed problem here at Manti and elsewhere in Sanpete County, I wish to acquaint ac-quaint the citizens of the program pro-gram which we propose carrying out to arrive at some imethod of control. con-trol. So in cooperation with the county commissioners com-missioners ant various committees which have been selected from the ri towns in the county a- war K to be declared on weeds. Dr. E. E. Stephens, state agricultural agricul-tural inspector, was present at the meeting. He explained the various vari-ous weed infestation's which prevailed pre-vailed throughout this state and he also explained various -vays of control. Dr. Stephens also ex plained the law which comipells the eradications of noxio-us weed! on all property, whether owned by the mate, county, city, corporation or individuals. He stated that the Plate Board of Agriculture did not wish to be too severe, bat instead they are ready and wi.1 ug to co-opirate co-opirate thru the various agricultural agricultur-al inspectors to devise an effective irogram so that the weed infestation infes-tation can eventually be controlled.
