The t'ouiuy Commissioners met wiih tin: Council to discuss the paving of the Mount Pleasant Main Street and also the type of road to be placed. Mayor Candland informed the Coinini: sioi:ers that the Council was in l'aor of a two strip road. According Accord-ing to the motion of Councilman Mcintosh, Mc-intosh, made in the preceding session, ses-sion, the Commissioners agreed to recommend re-commend to the State Road Commission Com-mission i he advertising for bids on two types of roadway, to wit: One strip of concrete 20 feet wide. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Board of County Commissioners Commis-sioners of San pete ,Conty, Utah, hereby here-by recommend, that the State Road Commission of the State of Utah, advertise ad-vertise only what tile cost of each of the following types of roads, to-wit: One strip of concrete 18 feet wide. One strip of concrete 20 feet wide. Two strips of concrete each 9 feet wide. would be if constructed in and along the state highway for. a distance of 2700 feet along said highway in the principal business section of Mount i Pleasant, Utah, and, RESOLVED further that said ad-1 ad-1 vertisement appear in the Mount Pleasant Pyramid and the Manti Mes-' Mes-' senger together with such other pa-1 pa-1 pers as may be deemed advisable by the State Road Commission. As per request, the members of , the Fire Department met with the Council. The Mayor stated that the purpose of meeting with the Fire De-. De-. partment was to discuss the affairs of th?t department. ii we are going to have proper protection pro-tection against fire, we must have v.!d apparatus, also trained and ef-. ef-. fkient firemen. The members should ractice once each week, and a meet-:ns meet-:ns should be held each month, in which conditions of the department should be discussed and recommendations recommend-ations drawn up to be submitted to the Council. The firemen should be vnply paid for each meeting and for c.ch practice. hi conclusion the Mayor advised " e fiie.iien to ge themselves in good condition for their work, because it4 -i a most important public service, as at anytime the saving of life and pioperty may depend on the efficiency of the l-'ire Department. The Council is anxious to sustain ih's department for adiquate projection pro-jection of the community against fire. The Mayor expressed himself as being very much in favor of paying men well for efficient public service, but at the same time it is necessary to practice prac-tice the strictest economy. The Chief and each man of the Fire Department declaired their willingness to make their department as efficient as possible. |
