Show HEALTH OFFICIALS LIST DISEASES For the week ending November 7, 1947, physicians and local health officers reported 127 resident resi-dent cases of notifiable diseases, which is a slight decrease as compared com-pared with the 149 cases last week and a considerable decrease over the 189 cases for the same week last year. Infantile paralysis showed a marked drop during the week with one case reported as compared com-pared with eight cases last week. Since January 1, 1947, sixty-five sixty-five resident cases of brucellosis (undulant fever), including the three cases this week, have been reported with two fatalities. During Dur-ing the same period last year there were twenty-six cases and no deaths. Undulant fever may be contracted con-tracted through contact with diseased di-seased cows, hogs, and goat3, but more frequently results from the consumption of unpasteurized milk and that indicates one important preventive measure universal pasteurization of milk and milk products. |
