Show SMALL PERCENT OF COUNTY TAXES ARE PAID TO DATE Utah county citizens have paid $425,400 in 1947 taxes approximately, approxi-mately, according to County Treasurer Maurice C. Bird, but they still have a long way to go before they reach the $3,055,270 in total taxes due for this year. Payment of current taxes is slightly ahead of last year, Mr. Bird said, but he emphasized the need of early payment. Although taxpayers have until Dec. 20 before be-fore their taxes become delinquent, they can save themselves and the county a lot of trouble by getting their payment in early, he declared. de-clared. A total of $2,090,559 was paid in taxes throughout the county in 1946, Mr. Bird said. This was 96.79 percent of the total due. The increased amount due this year results from a valuation increase in the county's total assessment of about $14,000,000, most of which came from the new valuation of the Geneva Steel plant after it was taken over by private ownership. Mr. Bird re-emphasized the fact that citizens may pay their taxes to their local bank. |
