Show Vets Oiiered Homes At Kearns Without A Down Payment Formal ground breaking by Secretary of State Heber Bennion, Jr. Thursday noon signalized the begining of work on Utah's newest new-est 4ow cost planned 'community at Kearns, formerly the U. S. Army airbase Camp Kearns, 11 miles southwest of Salt Lake city. Prices of modern two and three bedroom houses with and without garages will range from $7150 upward, including a large landscaped lot and mod em plumbing, electric and water wa-ter facilities, Arthur Caplan, president of Kearns Townsite, Inc. said. Construction of the first 100 units will involve the expenditure of $700,000. Approved veterans can buy a home without any down payment, pay-ment, Mr. Caplan announced-and announced-and non-veterans wiui a. nominal nomin-al payment. OveraU monthly housing costs will be as low as $50. Fred L. Markham, Provo architect, designed the housing units and the Mountain View Construction Company R. W. ' Sims, Salt Lake city is the builder. Kearns Townsite, Inc., a year ago purchased the 1200 acres comprising 1200 acres on which the U. S. Army expended $3,800,000 installing road, sewage, sew-age, water and electric light systems. |
