Show New Mexican Writes Book For Lovers West's Sports Walter R. Rodgers, of Elida, New Mexico, has written a book of hunting stories which published on June 24. Called "Huntin' Gun', it tells in plain man language, what many Southwestern hunters know, that if you haven't got "gun feel" you'll never be a hunter. Walter Rodgers first expressed this belief in an article ar-ticle in The American Rifleman which drew the largest fan mail in Rifleman history. His other articles continued to hit the jackpot, and a new name blazed over the Southwestern hunting and writing horizon. Rodgers is a game trapper with the New Mexico Department Depart-ment of Game and Fish. In addition to running a coyote line he's been pretty busy lately trapping readers with his fine writing. He's had stories in many outdoor magazines, and appears regularly in Fly and Shell, the New Mexico sporting magazine. "Huntin' Gun" is his first book. The illustrations , for it have been done by Jim : Borryman and Gib Crockett, the noted cartoonist for the Wash-' ington D. C. Evening Star and -the American Rifleman. The publishers of the book, The Sportsman's Press, of Washing- ton, D C. look on Walter Rodgers Rod-gers as a very bright prospect for top honors in the outdoor writing field. |
