Show Turkey Troubled The news of the day tells us, occasionally, of trouble brewing over the Dardanelles and of Turkish Turk-ish anxiety that the problem be settled by an international conference con-ference rather than through talks between Turkey and Tussia. The traits were open to the shipping of all nations during the war but because German submarines were in, the Black Sea and Germans dominated the Greek islands guarding the entrance en-trance to the Dardanelles there was no cnance or Aiiea snips getting get-ting through. We have seen no authoritative statement of Russian aims in regard re-gard to the Dadanelles but it is perfectly natural for the Soviet to desire assurances in connection connec-tion with the passage of shipping through the straits. Otherwise, the southern part of Russia has no outlet to the sea lanes of the world. |
