Show SPRING CITY 1 By Special Correspondence I H. Harrison Mott Passes Away At a Salt Lake City Hospital H. Harrison Mott, 68, passed away Friday in a Salt Lake hospital hos-pital of natural causes incident to age. He was born July 4, 1S77, in Spring City a son of Charles and Elizabeth Sorgnsen Mott. He had been engaged, in farming. For the past few years he has resided re-sided in Duchesne. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed Wednesday afternoon in. the ward chapel, followed by interment inter-ment in the city cemtery. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Annie Mott, Spring City; three daughters, Mrs. Rose Sandstrom, Mrs. Gertrude Nielson, North Salt Lake; Mrs. Dora Ivy, Duchesne; and two sons, Cpl. Reed Mott, U. S. Army, and Virgil Mott, Duchesne; Du-chesne; three brothers, Sam Moit, Duchesne; Myron and Morrison Mott, Salt Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Pillman, Mrs. Julie Ner-din, Ner-din, Pleasant Grove and eight grand children. Recent word was received of the death of Pvt. Delno Mott, who died in Germany, February 5. 1945. Due to ill health George Down- ard has been released as a coun-seloV coun-seloV in the ward Sunday School Presidency. Lowell Hansen has been sustained in his place. Lt. Keith R. Allred is home on a week's furlough visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred and other relatives. He is an instructor in the Air Corps at Enid, Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Virgus Osborne have received word that their son, Pvt. V. Connell Osborne, is now statoined at Camp Adair, Oregon. Jerrold J. Jones of the U. S. Navy is home on furlough en route to Washington, D. C. He is a veteran of the Pacific campaign, cam-paign, having served in the Navy for seven years. He has participated partici-pated in many of the operations, being at Pearl Harbor at the time the Japanese made their surprise attack. He is the son of Mrs. Eva J. Allred and the husband of Mrs. Myrl C. Jones. Sgt. Boyd Olson, Travis and Clayton Olson of Moore, Utah visited with relatives in this city recently. Sgt. Olson is a member of the Air Corps and is stationed in Wisconsin. Mrs. Emma Edmunds and small daughters of Salt Lake City are present visitors in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Angus Black have received word their son, Allen Reid Black, is now stationed sta-tioned at Carlsbad, New Mexico, where he is assisting in special pilot training in the Air Corps. His wife, Mrs. Virginia Black, accompanied ac-companied him to his new post. Mr. and Mrs. Christian Soren-sen Soren-sen received word that their son, Pvt. Gordon Sorensen, has now left for overseas duty. . Elvin Hansen is home on furlough fur-lough from Colorado. He is visiting vis-iting his wife, Mrs. Lois Hansen and children, also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Hansen. He will return to his former base. He is in the Air Corps Servce. Bshop and Mrs. E. B. Terry, in a recent letter from Sgt. Movis Terry, learned that he is now stationed in the Philippines. He is a member of one of the first National Guards to enter Servce. He is a member of a band unit, which has been stationed for many months at Guad. Another son, Darwnin Terry last wrote from New Zealand. He is in the U. S. Navy. Mr. and Mrs. Reid H. Allred, Miss Manett Allred, Lt. Keith Allred and Mrs. Virgus Osborne visited Thursday afternoon in Manti at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Allred. Sgt. Donald Allred showed the relatives many beautiful and unique articles he brought home from Germany, Italy, Egypt and Africa. Mrs. Myrtle Allred entertained the following ladies at a social at her home Friday afternoon: Mrs. Vanda Peterson, Mrs. Ruth Osborne, Mrs. Mary Fincll, Mrs. Grace B. Allred, Mrs. Anena All-red, All-red, Mrs. Ada Allred, Miss Manett Allred, Mrs. Iris Allred and Mrs. Ferris Norman. The hostess served a delcious lunch. Earl Jensen hac returned home after being employed for several months in other states. Among the G.I.s studynig at special schools in England and Scotland, are one officer and four enlisted men stationed in Germany. Ger-many. They left the Regiment last week on the first quotas for study at Schrivenham, England and Glassgow, Scotland, under the Army Educatoinal program. Capt. Don R. Hickman, former executive officer of the Third Battalion and recently assistant Regimental S-3, TjSgt. John J. Riley of Company C, Sgt. Fur-man Fur-man B. Bishop, Company T, and Pfc. Joseph F. Robrecht, Hq. Co., 3rd Battalion left for the Army University Center in Schrivenham. Schriven-ham. There they will study courses in education, science, agriculture and engineering, respectively re-spectively for a period of two months at the Army conducted school. Upon completoin of the courses they will report to their parent units. Capt. Hickman is the husband of Mrs. Lo Ree Terry Hickman of this city. Mrs. Angus Black was hostess Friday afternoon to the membois of the Alethea club. The after- noon was spent in working on an Afgan for Bushnell hospital. Mrs. Nellie Blain was a special guest. A delicious luncheon was served by the hostess. Miss Phyllis Larsen and Rex Larsen of Oakland, Calif, are visiting their grandfather, Gilbert Gil-bert Nyberg. Glade Justesen of Midvale has been a recent visitor at the home of his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Osman Osborne and Mrs. Jane Justeren. Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Osborne and family spent the week end visiting visit-ing at Dr.igerton and Price. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Dahl and family visited last week at the home of Mrs. Dahl's mother. Mrs. Laura Peterson is leaving Sunday for Salt Lake City to meet her daughter, Ester or Mrs. Chester B. Arthur, who will arrive ar-rive from Washington, D. C. with her four children, Chester, Curtis Patricia and Ruth Ann. Mrs. Arthur has resided in Washington, Washing-ton, D. C. the past sixteen years, and has not visited in Utah during dur-ing that period. She will remain in Salt Lake City visiting with relatives and friends. Mrs. Peterson Peter-son will also assist in caring for her daughter, Mrs. Samuel Kidd, who will be operated on Wednesday Wednes-day for a goitre. Mr. and Mrs. George Allred visited last week at I'leasant Grove with their daughters, Mrs. Gwenna Bauer and Miss Edna Allred. Miss Verna Allred spent the week end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon All-red. All-red. She is at present employed at Salt Lake City. |
