Show Honors Confered Upon Clair Vance The Willard G. Vance family of Fairview, Utah were very happy hap-py and grateful last week to receive re-ceive the following letter from the Southwest Pacific written by the Commanding General of the Air Forces under which their son, Clair Vance, is serving. The letter let-ter follows: - Headquarters Ailed Air Forces Southwest Pacific Area Office of the Commander July 19, 1945 Mr. Willard G. Vance Fairview, Utah Dear Mr. Vance: Recently your son, Flight Officer Of-ficer Clair Vance, was decorated with the Air Medal. It was an award in recogntion of courageous courage-ous service to his combat organization, organ-ization, his fellow American airmen, air-men, his country, his home and to you. He was cited for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flights in the Southwest Pacific Area from February 5, 1945 to May 27, 1945. Your son took part in sustained ing which hostile contact was probable and expected. These flights included bombing missions mis-sions against enemy installations, installa-tions, shipping and supply bases, and aided considerably in the recent successe in this theatre. Almost every hour of every day your son, and the sons of other American fathers, are doing do-ing just such things as that here in the Southwest Pacific. Theirs is a very real and very tangible contributoin to victory and to peace. I would like to tell you how geneuinely proud I am to have men such as your son in my command, and how gratified I am to know that young Americans Ameri-cans with such courage and resourcefulness re-sourcefulness are fighting our country's battle with the Japanese Japa-nese aggressors.
