Show danpete County Farm News Plans Made Fbr Soil Conservation Work Mr. W. V. Owens of the Utah Slate Agricultural College Extei.-sici. Extei.-sici. Service met with the Coun'-.y Soil Conservation Committee and the men who had applied for positions pos-itions as supervisors at Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant on Thursday, August 20. Detailed information was given as to the methods of measuring, calculating, and generally supervising supervis-ing the soil conservation program on nine hundred and forty three farms upon which applications have been signed. This program seeks to aid farmers farm-ers in a. change cf farm practices) which will give them more soil conserving crops for soil building purposes and to make payments for g'Uly control, approved summer fallow, fal-low, terracing and wneed control. George C. Sorensen, C. H. Childs and E. H. Anderson constitute the county committee and the following follow-ing men have applied for positions as supervisors : C. S. Augason, Fountain Green; Soren C. Nielsen, Niel-sen, Moroni; Miles Sorensen, Mt. Pleasant; Lloyd Madsen, Fairview; Roy S. Anderson, Ephraimi; M. R. Strate, Spring City; Glade Allred, Manti; R. D. Larsen, Mayfield; R. A. Fjelsted, Cerateifield. Canning- Project To Be Worked Mrs. Effie S. Barrows, Home Management Specialist, and Miss Elna Miller, Nutritionist from the Utah State Agricultural College, are in Sanpete county for the purpose pur-pose of canning demonstrations on fall vegetables to include corn, tomatoes, beets and meats. Meetings are being held at the Gunnison High School for leaders from Cayfield, Axtell, Centcrfield, layette and Gunnison. This work in' the district is under the supervision super-vision of Mrs. Clarice Larse;l of Gunmson. ThG second meeting or demon-sua'.ion demon-sua'.ion will be held at the Eph-raini Eph-raini hih school at 10 a. m. cn fuday, August 21 for leaders from r ):liniiiv., Spring City and Chester. This work will be under the direction direc-tion of Mrs. W. E. Thorpe. ' The third demonstration will be held at the Mt. Pleasant hi?h school and will cover subjects of canning and home lighting for the Stake Relief Society leaders of Spring City, Faimew, Milbum and Mt. Pleasant. This work will be mider the direction cf Mrs. O. F. Peel. |
