Show Recruiting Party to Come Here August 25th Word has been received from Colonel William C. Webb. Army Kecmiting Officer. Salt Lake City, that the recruiting parties of the 38th Infantry now conducting a recruiting re-cruiting drive thioughout this area, will return to Fort Douglas, Utah, v.-t later than August 23rd. P'rtsant onl Auglu'- 25th, Ephraim on August 26tn; te&nti cn August ! 21-.:i and 28th. Quafied applicants will be accepted and furnished transportation to Salt Lake City, where they will be given final examinations. ex-aminations. These successful in pacing will be enlisted in the 38 ta Infantry. It ir. expected, that this regiment will be up to full strength by September Sep-tember first, and that recruiting1 may then be restricted. Young men now employed at summer occupations occupa-tions are advised . to investigate the pcssibility of an enlistment. One of the features of being stationed sta-tioned at Fort Douglas that will appeal to local residents is the short distance that they must travel to visit their homes. Passes for this purpose are granted liberally. Men ambitious to improve their education, ed-ucation, or to secure technical training will find Fort Douglas ideal. Courses in high school subjects; sub-jects; training in radio, electricity, typing, stenography, motor mechanics, mechan-ics, etc. are available at the post without charge. Men earn also attend at-tend night school in Salt Lake City at a nominal cost. By taking advantage ad-vantage of the opportunities offered offer-ed a man can prepare himself for an excellent position in civil life when he is discharged, or if he elects to stay in the service, he will be prepared for promotion to ihe higher grades, Colonel Webb said. When a soldier has completed a. period of six months or a year at Fort Douglas, he may if he so de-siros, de-siros, apply for a transfer to another an-other post or to foreign service. Men who do mot contact the recruiting re-cruiting sergeant when he is in the towns listed, may make application to the Army Recruiting Office, in The Armory, Provo, Utah. |
