'K 1 RADIO'S greatest stay-at-home, singer Kate Smith, recently broke away from her New York moorings and went to Hollywood to be guest of honor at the premiere of "Drums Along the Mohawk." Though busy with her broadcasts, Kate did everything worth doing, saw everything every-thing worth seeing, including the picture stars In their native haunts. The cameraman found her (1) lunching with Brenda Joyce and Richard Greene at the 20th Century-Fox studio commissary; (2) with Nancy ' Kelly and Henry Stephenson; (3) with Ted Collins (Left) in the office of movie producer Darryl Zanuck who asked Kate to star in a picture. However, the songstress found movie committments impossible at present what with her radio work, and waved farewell to Screenland (4) from the steps of the train that will carry her back to New York and her Friday night broadcasts over Columbia. |
