Show Army Recruits 56 Men in District During October Fifty-six men were enlisted in the Army by the Salt Lake City District of the Army Recruiting Service during October. In making application, the men chose the following fol-lowing assignments: 25 selected the 38th Infantry at Fort Douglas, Utah; 22 are on their way to Hawaii; 3 enlisted for the 4th Infantry In-fantry at Fort Missoula, Montana; and one each for the 6th Brigade; and the Quartermaster Corps at Fort Douglas. Three men were discharged dis-charged during the month at Fort Douglas, reenlisted for foreign service two going to the 15th Infantry In-fantry in China, and cne to the Philippine Islands. During the first part of November, Novem-ber, applications vill continue to ic pxcepted lor service with the Field Artillery, Infantry, Engineers, and Medical Department in Hawaii. All vacancies in the Coast Artillery have been filled, ar.d those for other branches are limited. The men who enlist for station in Hawaii will leave San Francisco on the Army transport St. Miluel, sailing November K.'th, or aboard the Republic on the 24th. Vacancies for the 4th Infantry and 38th Infantry will probably be available throughout November, according ac-cording to Coloiel Webb. He said also, that vacancies for three men who are qualified as stenographers exist for the Philippine Department. The Colonel pointed out that these men will be enlisted for the kind of work for which they have been trained, and that opportunity for advancment in this line is exceptionally excep-tionally good.
