Show Local CCC Camp to Close About Ma.y 31st Word was given out in Washington, Washing-ton, D. C. yesterday that six cf the CCC Camps in Utah are scheduled for closing beginning May 31, according ac-cording to an announcement made by CCC Director Robert Fechner. The local camp at Mt. Pleasant is listed as one of the camps to be closed. Friday Burke McArthur wired Utah's Representatives and Senators in Washington that? Mt. Pleasant unitedly objected to closing the local lo-cal camp and urged them to help save the situation. The local CCC Camp was killed on October 21st when the erosion control bo-ard met with citizens of Mt. Pleasant at the North Ward chapel for the putpose of creating an erosion control district for Mt. Pleasant. The people at the meeting were stampeded into opposition of the p cposal and the state officials did not put it to a vote for fear it would be killed on account of the o. position at the meeting. It has been hoped that the opposition would get their eyes open and help build up this section. I |
