Show i Carl Sandburg to Appear In Snow College Recital Residents cf this region will be given an opportunity to hear one of America's most famous ft Ik s:ng re-citalisc- and biographers when they attend a recital which will be given i at Siicw College Monday evening. February 19. by Carl Sandburg. Mr. j Sandburg's biography cf Abraham Lincoln Ls perhaps the best ever j done. His Ephraim appearance will be his cnly one in Utah on this tour at least, and numerous inquiries for tickets have been received from aU points between Richfield and Nephi. Mr. Sandburg's literary career began be-gan while he was a student at Lombard Lom-bard college, Galesburg, 111. He has held various editorial positions and has captured a number of poetry prizes. He is at present on the editorial edi-torial staff cf the Chicago Daily News. The fact that he has made his own way in the world since he was a boy of thirteen has had much to do with the quality of his poetry, in the writing of which he excells in several fields. Among his best known books of poems are: Chicago Poems; The Chicago Race Riots; Smoke and Steel; Corn Huskers. Not only will he read many of his poems during his Ephraim appearance, appear-ance, but he will likewise appear in musical presentations. Mr. Gerald Ericksen, Snow College Col-lege student body president, states that a number of Mt. Pleasant people peo-ple plan cn attending. He adds that the college is not trying to maks any profits out of the program, and that as a consequence tickets are net prohibitory of cost. |
