Show Institute Theme Is Creative Living, Thinking Creative thinking, living, and teaching was the theme of the Teachei's Institute for Alpine District Dis-trict held last Friday in the $1,750,000.00 Orem High School. This theme was discussed by panel members, Mark Nichols, Director of Vocational Education of the State Department cf Public Instruction; In-struction; Ed Lyons, Institute of Religion, University of Utah; Dr. A. John Clarke and Mark Allen, both of Brigham Young University. Univer-sity. Many challenges were given to the 500 employees present to live and think creatively, and to create an atmosphere in the classroom class-room for constructive thinking. The meetings were conducted by Supt. Alma P. Burton. In his instructions, in-structions, the Superintendent urged urg-ed employees to find better ways to do their work. He encouraged them to use the equipment that God has given each of them to make the best of their opportunities, opportun-ities, to have vision, to make -wise use of time, to study, to have perseverance, per-severance, to think positively, and to learn to work well with other people. Frank R. Jex, Director of Maintenance Main-tenance and Operation for Alpine District described the new Orem High School.- The buildings, which cover approximately 3 acres, have been under construction for the past 18 months, and will be used for the first time this fall. Principal L. B. Bennett of the Orem High School expressed appreciation ap-preciation of his staff towards the new building, and under his supervision, super-vision, tours of the plant were conducted. con-ducted. The afternoon session was conducted con-ducted by President Ford Paulson of the Alpine Teachers Association. Associa-tion. Clifton Pyne of Orem was elected president of the Association Associa-tion for the coming year, with Lyean Johnson of Pleasant Grove as vice president. The discussion for the teachers meeting centered around teacher rating. It included a panel by J. C .Moffitt, George Miller, Clarence Ashton, Lloyd Whitlock, and Gayle Rose. |
