Show Surprise Dinner Party Honors Mrs. Isaksen Early this week at the home of cne of her sons, Alvin of Lindon, a surprise dinner party and family visit honored Mrs. Nikolene Isaksen Isak-sen of her 78th birthday anniversary. anniver-sary. Expecting to be driven to a church service by her daughter, Clara Dodge of Orem, with whom she is staying, the 78-year-old mother was taken to Alvin's home where all of her seven children were gathered with the exception of Paul who makes his home in Palo Alto, California. Besides Clara and Alvin, other sons and daugters present with their partners to share the chicken chick-en dinner which was prepared by Alvin's wife, Elois, and eaten by candlelight were Alice Menlove and Marie English of Salt Lake City, and Esther Isaksen and Dr. Henry L. Isaksen of Orem. Mrs. Isaksen, a native of Copenhagen, Copen-hagen, Denmark and a convert to the LDS Church, came to America in her early 20's as the bride of Martin J. Isaksen. They later had their marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. At first they settled in Millcreek (Murray) moving later to the towns of Roosevelt and Altona and then to California at Palo Alto. In the Fall of 1946 Mrs. Iasak-sen Iasak-sen and her husband accepted a call to fill an LDS Mission to Denmark, but eight months later in the Spring of 1947, Mrs. Isaksen Isak-sen returned to Salt Lake City where her husband was buried. He had died of pneumonia while they were filling their mission. Since then Mrs. Isaksen has made her home with her sons and daughters and been of great help to them in rearing their children. She has 34 grand children and one great-grand child. |
