Agreements for the rights of way to cross private properties have been received and installation of the new pipe line which will extend from the aqueduct, east to west approximately 2200 feet, to the reservoir was scheduled to begin be-gin Saturday morning. This was but one of the items discussed last at Lindon City Councial meeting. Reed Gillman. reporting - on roads, acknowledged the receipt of the new "yield right of way" and "stop" signs while the road committee com-mittee decided to get together at Lheir earliest possible convenience and make a sui-vey to determine the placement of the signs where the need is most urgent. Mr. Gillman also gave a report on the various Lindon roads which have recently been graded and graveled, and mentioned that additional ad-ditional grading would be done after the next storm to facilitate propel' packing. A suggestion was made by Councilman Victor Viklund to avoid possible juvenile accidents. He advised that all tree branches overhanging Lindon's roads be trimmed to discourage children from swinging on ropes and landing land-ing in the pathway of passing vehicles. Having attended a recent meeting meet-ing of county commissioners in Provo, a meeting designed to discuss city and county problems, Mayor Harold Keetch reported on matters pertaining to civil defense and uniform business licenses. At the Provo meeting it was suggested that a sum no less than $400 of tax money be set aside in ech city for civil defense purposes. purpos-es. However, since Tyler Rogers is Lindon's Civil Defense Coordinat-orr, Coordinat-orr, the Mayor said that he would contact Mr. Rogers to determine future defense needs. The councilmen were all in agreement that the proposed uniform uni-form business licenses for all business and profesional men had it merit and that they would be willing to go along with the county commissioners on this item after final details had been ironed out. The councilmen set aside Mon- . day evening, Nov. 15, to "convene and publicly canvas the results and issue election certificates to each perso nelected by majority of votes." Before adjourning it was decided decid-ed that a social for all council-men council-men to honor the outgoing council-men council-men would be planned before the Christmas rush and staged by the councilmen's wives. The suggestion sugges-tion was made by Mayor Keetch. |
