Show 4-H Achievement Prograsn Held At Springville As a feature of National 4-H Achievement week, Utah County 4-H achievement program was held Saturday evening Nov. 12 at Springville, where all outstanding 4-H club members of Utah County Coun-ty were honored. Featured speaker was Roy Pas-sey Pas-sey of Provo, whose theme was "Hitch Your Wagon to a Star." Among 4-H club members honored hon-ored were Deane West, Pleasant Grove 1st year club member, and Joyce S'wenson, 2nd year member of Beatrice Fisher's' and Karolyn Swensen's club who each received $2.50 in a savings account. Receiving medals for .work in canning were Joan Goode, Karolyn Swenson and Juliann Warnick of - Mrs. K. Warnick Swensons 5th year foods club receiving gold medals. Medals for Dairying were received receiv-ed by Wendell Harmon and Kay Richins of Lindon and by Jimmy Swenson and Danny Adams of Manila. A medal for poultry was given to Sidney Crystal and a medal for soil and water conservation to Roland Ro-land West of Pleasant Grove. Newel Larson received a gold watch for state winner in Entomology Entom-ology and Julia Ann Warnick a certificate for state winner of a trip to the 4-H club camp at Washington D.C. next June. Gold medal for club leadership was awarded to Gary Richins. Medals for Entomology was given giv-en to Newel Larson, Jay Williams. Dennis Swenson, Michael Blackhurst Black-hurst of Max and Clela Radmall's - club and for food preparation to Nancy Adams and Betty Beers. I Other ways in which local 4-H clubs observed National 4-H club week was by radio recordings earlier ear-lier this month. These recordings were given on Farm Roundup and This Business of Fanning programs. pro-grams. With Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick. club supervisor, as moderator. Nancy Adams and Betty Beers discussed and demonstrated methods meth-ods of putting over 4-H work. On another program Mrs. War-r.i. War-r.i. k led the discussion with Kathleen Kath-leen Carlson and Betty Beers on "Requirements in 4-H Food Preparation Prep-aration and Canning." On a third program, Nyla Frampton and Karen Lindsay discussed dis-cussed "Community Service in 4-H Club Work." Mrs. Warnick again led the discussion. Recordings were J made by Elvon Orme. |
