Show Pie Baking Contest Features Cherry, Pumpkin Pies at Community Fair Plans for the annual Pie Contest held in connection with the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Fair, next Friday, Sept. 23, are going forth with a great deal of interest, according to Wallace Wal-lace Saling and Mrs. Faye Bellis-ton, Bellis-ton, co-chairmen of the event. They state that the Cherry Pie Contest is open to girls from 14 to 20, and the city Cherry Pie Contest winn re will compete at the Utah State Fair, September 24 for a chance to enter the National Contest, Con-test, as state winner. The chairmen also state that the Pleasant Grove Canning Co. will furnish all cans of pumpkin to women of the vicinity who plan to enter the Pumpkin Pie Contest. Any woman of any age may "com-pete "com-pete in this event and the committee com-mittee heads state that they feel this is a fine opportunity for the wome nof the communities to make this contest an outstinding part of the Fair. The pie entries are to be at the Pleasant Grove High School ready for judging by 11 a.m. (no later) states Mrs. Belliston, and she adds "We appeal to ah women of the stake to support the worthwhile worth-while event and make this a very popular feature. Cash prizes will be given of $10, $5 and $2.50. Salt Lake City judges will judge this event. Mrs. Belliston further stated that the pies would be judged by number in the interest of fairness. Cherry pies should not be topped with whipped cream, she added. |
