Show Legion to Drive For Increase In Membership At a meeting held last Friday night at the home of Commander Irwin Jensen, officers of the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Post 70, American Legion, Leg-ion, discussed current post problems prob-lems and formulated plans for the yearly membership drive, accord-in accord-in gto Viron Washburn, first vice commander in charge of the campaign, cam-paign, the drive for renewals will be launched full scale on Tuesday, September 20. "There are at least 300 potential American Legion members in the Pleasant Grove area," said Mr. Washburn, "and each of these ex-service ex-service men could benefit themselves them-selves and serve their community by joining." Commander Jensen explained that most of the benefits now enjoyed en-joyed by the former soldiers, marines mar-ines and sailors have come as a result re-sult of the diligent and constructive construct-ive efforts of the American Legion Le-gion organization. There are now over three million Legionnaires in the United States, and membership is growing nationally. nation-ally. Three million loyal Americans is a force to be reckoned with, especially es-pecially when their activities are directed toward the patriotic ideals of the American Legion Child Welfare Wel-fare and Rehabilitation, Care for the Disabled Veterans, The Fight Against Communism, Community Service and Back to God Movements Move-ments are just a few of the activities activ-ities possible under the American Legion leadership.
