Show Robert K. Thorne Dies In Provo Patriarch and Mrs. D. B. Thorne, Mrs. Eva Fage, Mr. and Mrs John Conway, Mrs. Martha Keetch, Mrs. J. E. Hardman, Mrs. Leland Beers, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Johnson, Mr. adn Mrs. Martelle Keetch, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd West, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harper were among local relatives and friends who on Tuesday afternoon af-ternoon attended the funeral of Robert R. Thorne at Provo. Mr. Thorne, 74, retired Provo businessman, died Friday at 4 p.m. in Utah Valley Hospital following surgery. He was born Nov. 4, 1878, in Pleasant Grove, a son of Robert and Cordelia Walker Thorne. He received his education in Pleasant Grove schools and later studied at Brigham Young University Uni-versity and LDS Business College. He married Mary Elizabeth Harper Har-per December 4, 1901 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He moved to Provo in 1902 where he was deputy dep-uty county recorder for two terms and served two terms as Utah County Recorder, also two terms as county assessor. In 1915 he became judge of the I city court and served for four years. In 1919 he entered the abstract ab-stract business, which he followed until April 1, 1951, when he retired. re-tired. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities. For the past 11 years he was treasurer of the Fifth Ward high priests' group. Surviving are his widow, Provo; four daughters: Mrs. Joseph B. (Beulah) Holmes, Ogden; Mrs. Golden R. (Lucile) Tucller, Mesa, Ariz.; Mrs. Ira S. (Ruth) Fletcher, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Kent N. (Bernice) Mortenson, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters; Mrs. Eva Page, Pleasant Grove; David Thorne, Lindon; Mrs. Martha Keetch, Orem; Or-em; Frank Thorne, Orem! Mrs. Nellie Jacobsen, Orem, and Mrs. Arvella Hurst, Declo, Ida. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. |
