Show JjBaiile Creek! J Breeze jj K. B. The sound judgment being displayed dis-played by General Eisenhower in the selection of his new cabinet, is heart-warming to say the least. Let us hope that it means the beginning of the end to '"government '"govern-ment by crony"; which has plagued plag-ued and handicapped the present .administration for so many years. The marked success of the General Gen-eral as a military leaders was the m V ; ? , ' V - '$ result of his ability ab-ility to select competent subordinates sub-ordinates and then get out of their way in the performance perform-ance of their responsibilities. The fact that a man has displayed dis-played absolute absol-ute party loyalty loy-alty is no reliable re-liable indication that he has tne ability and judg-.. judg-.. ment necessary to function efficiently effic-iently in a top government position. pos-ition. Our greatest statesmen in the past, have been those who were able to rise above the restraints of party affiliation and work for the common good of all. Eisenhower's planned visit to Korea may have no immediate effect ef-fect on the culmination of the military stalemate; but it will give him valuable first-hand information inform-ation from which an effective solution so-lution may be worked out. In the gigantic job ahead, the new President will need the best help available. Certainly there are numerous loyal men and women in America who are big enough to forget party selfishness and personal per-sonal gain, in the crusade for honesty hon-esty ad efficiency in government. The recent landslide clearly indicates in-dicates that the General has the faith and confidence of the vast majority. With such faith and loyalty, loy-alty, coupled with his proven executive ex-ecutive ability, we cannot fail to go forward in the cause of humanity. human-ity. Sj long 'til Friday. |
