Show Dan Atwood's Services Are Held Tuesday The Manila Ward Chapel was filled to overflowing Tuesday, when sorrowing relatives and friends met to pay last tribute of respect to Dan Atwood, and express ex-press sympathy for his family. The impressive service began at 1 p. m. with Bishop Boyd Fugal in charge Prelude organ music was played by Hal Haycock. John L. Atwood of Salt Lake City, offered the invocation, and was followed by a vocal solo, "In the Garden of Tomorrow" by Mrs. Florine S. Prouse, accompanied by Mrs. Kay Adams. Speakers who paid tribute to the memory of the departed and spoke words of faith to the bereaved bere-aved family were H. V. Swenson, Wm. Young, and Clifford E. Young Assistant to the Council of Twelve Apostles. Musical numbers interspersing the speakers were a vocal trio, "Prayer Perfect," by Mrs. Merrill Allen, Mrs'. Stephen Warnick and Mrs. Charles Warnick, accompanied accompan-ied by Mrs. K. Adams, and a vocal solo "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," by Mrs. Sprouse, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Adams. After closing remarks of sympathy sym-pathy and appreciation for the family by Bishop Fugal; George and Ivan Monson sang the closing number "Sometime We'll Understand." Benediction was pronounced by R. D. Wadley. Prior to the services ser-vices prayer at the home was offered by President Merrill Warnick. War-nick. Burial was made in the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove City cemetery, with complete military honors conducted conduct-ed by the National Guard stationed station-ed at American Fork, who lined up as a honor guard at the home and at the church. At the graveside the dedicatorial dedicator-ial prayer was offered by B. H. Warnick, the American flag was presented to the boy's mother, a gun salute was fired and taps sounded. Dan Atwood, 20, died Friday night of injuries received in a truck-car crash between Pleasant Grove and American Fork. He was born October 25, 1931 at Pleasant Grove, a son of L. M. and Cora Warnick Atwood. He attended at-tended school here and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1949. He had been employed as a mechanic in Anderson's Garage in American Fork. He was active in the Church and was an elder at the time of his death. He enlisted in the UtaS National Guard p.: American Fork. Survivors include his parents, two brothers, Grant L. Atwood & Dean Atwood, Pleasant Grove; three sisters. Mrs. Marvel Smith, Lehi; Mrs. Emma Burgess, Alpine, and Mrs. Lyle Merrill, Provo. |
