Show Vikings To Open Football Season Tonight Against Wasatch High Pleasant Grove's Viking's will open their pre-season games with the team taking' on the Wasatch High School today (Friday) at 8 p.m. on the new field at the Pleasant Grove Recreation area, accoi'ding to Coach Gil Meier. League play will not open until the 25th with a game away from home at Payson, but the Vikings will play another game here on Friday the 18th, when they take on Murray High. Coach Meier was reluctant to predict how his team will do this year. He says the boys will try their best, but with other coaches in the league predicting strong teams. Pleasant Grove will have to show some good football to win any games this year. Meier further fur-ther stated that the team lacks depth. Probable starting line-up for the game today as given by the Coach on Thursday is center. Dave Richards; Rich-ards; guards, Don Tree and Ken Adamson, tackles, Wayne Ash and Dewayne Iverson and ends Tom Clark and Dean Powell. Starting in the backfield at quarterback will be Stan Walker, at right half is Carl Crawford and left half will be Gary Carson. Roland Robinson gets the nod at fullback. Other boys' who will probably see action, and according to Coach Meier have been showing up well in practice are tackles Leonard Ash and Owen Ash; guard Ron Iverson, end Jerry Robinson and backs Dave Harmer and Harley Hales. Admission will be charged for the game and will be 50c for adults ad-ults and 35c for students. |
