Show Sing Something Purple The fact that music can bring certain color; to mind has long been recognized by psychologists. Two of them, Henry S. Odbert and Theodore F. Karowski, found that out of 148 college students 39 per cent were able to "see" a color or colors while listening to music. Of the number, 53 per cent were able to associate a color and 31 per cent felt a color response. Newton related colors to the diatonic scale in this manner: man-ner: Do, red; re, orange; mi, yellow; fa, green; sol, blue; la, indigo; and si, violet. Attempts have been made to fashion color organs and other devices to express ex-press the correlation of color and music. |
