Show Nicely Arranged Reception Honors Young Married Couple At a very nicely arranged reception re-ception Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Simper entertained relatives and friends on Friday evening in honor of their daughter Betty and Kenneth Ken-neth L. Harvey, who were married earlier in the day in the Salt Lake LDS temple. The just weds and their party greeted friends in the First Ward recreation hall, before a background back-ground of chrysanthemums featuring feat-uring a large fan shaped center peice over which lighted candel-ebra candel-ebra cast a warm glow, very much in keeping with the light in the eyes of the young couple. Other baskets of chrysanthmums thru-out thru-out the. hall added charm to the scene. In the line up with the bride and groom were the bride's parents, par-ents, the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Harvey, matron of honor, hon-or, the bride's sister Mrs. Wesley Shields, and other attendants Miss Geniel Simper, Mrs. Earl Matthews, Mat-thews, Miss Mary Lou Gardiner, and Miss Dorace Peay. Eugene Harvey acted as best man for his brother. Little Sherry Warburton and Jennine West were train bearers. For her wedding the attractive bride chose a gown of heavy satin fashioned entrain, fitted bodice and high neck line. Her finger tip lace trimmed veil fell from a tiera of rhinestones and seed pearls. She carried a large white orchid, nestled in Hawaiian Vanda orchids, orch-ids, and rose buds. Her attendants all wore beautiful beau-tiful pastel gowns and carried matching nosegays of chrysanthemums. chrysan-themums. The dainty little train bearers were clad in yellow ruffled ruf-fled gowns. Mrs. Simper and Mrs. Harvey wore long gowns on which they pinned vanda orchids. Bishop and Mrs. H. S. Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Reeves Cob-bley Cob-bley received guests at the door and the bride's brother Jim Simper, Sim-per, David Harvey, Wesley Shields and Earl Matthews were ushers. Mrs. Eugene Harvey handled the guest book. John Fuga.l master of ceremonies ceremon-ies introduced the program numbers: num-bers: a vocal solo, "My Wonderful Wonder-ful One, Miss Lynnel Johnson, accompanist ac-companist Miss Ann Clark; a vocal vo-cal solo "Because" Clinton Make- kaw, accompanied by Miss Betty Page; a humorous reading, Mrs. S. C. Jackson; "No Other Love," sung by Dorace Peay, Maurine Esklund, Dorothy Anne Bradley, Eloise Richards, Mary Lou Gardiner Gardi-ner accompanied by Mary Paulson,; Paul-son,; toast to the newlyweds, Mrs. Howard Warnick; a vocal duet, by Howard Ellis and Clinton Mak-! Mak-! ekaw, accompanied by Miss Page. A vocal number was rendered by a group of former missionaries missionar-ies who served with Kenneth on the Hawaiian Islands. Bridal march was played by Irwin Jensen, who also played organ music during the earlier part ofthe evening. Following the program dancing was enjoyed. During the bridal waltz Jack Adamson sang "I Love You Truly" Mrs. David B. Willets, Mrs. Dan Simper, and Mrs. Don Simper arranged ar-ranged the lively gift display. They were assisted by Ruth Richards, Rich-ards, Sally Saling, Darlene Carson Car-son and June Peterson. The table in the serving room was covered by a beautiful embroidered embro-idered linen cloth, centered with a gorgeous wedding cake, flanked by pink candles in crystal holders. Here Mrs. J. Harvey was hostess, host-ess, assisting Miss Patricia Anderson. And-erson. Serving were Misses Jewel Olpin, Gayle Thome and Ellen Brady. The popular young couple were married earlier in the day in the Salt Lake LDS temple, by Elder Joseph Fielding Smith. The brides sister and husband Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Shield also had their mar-iage mar-iage solemnized in the temple rites. Others witnessing the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Harvey, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harvey, Mr. and Mrs. Reeves Cobbley, J. H. Harvey and Grant Fugal. Following the temple marriage this entire party, joined by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Simper and Mr. and Mrs. Hans Christensen were guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Harvey Har-vey at a wedding breakfast at Temple Square hotel. The newlyweds, following the wedding reception left for a honey moon trip to California. Upon their return they will be at home to their friends in the Wesley Jense apartments on 1st North. |
