Show PL Grove News j The First ward Relief society met on Tue-sday and made two quilts . which will be distributed to needy j families. Work and business leaders, j Mrs. Gottlieb Buhler and Mrs. James Tomlinson, were in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Christensen of Vaughn, Montana, returned to their home Thursday, after a twelve- day visit with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Walker. . , A cleverly arranged affair of the week was the ..Christmas party .at which the teachers of the Sharon school were entertained by the Lin-don Lin-don teachers, at the home of Miss Jennie Anderson of Orem, Monday night. The hosts were Elwood Baxter, Bax-ter, principal of Lindon school; Mrs. Martha Johnson, Mrs, Emily Pederson, Miss LaVon Phillips, and Miss Jennie Anderson. Guests were Ford M. Paulson, principal of Sharon Shar-on school, Misses Jennie Gleason, Helen Henderson and Elaine Brim-hall. Brim-hall. Karl Banks, principal of Pleasant Grove high school, was absent from his work on Monday and Tuesday on account of illness. Twenty-three members of the American Legion and auxiliary gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. 'Don Mack Dalton of Manila Thursday evening and gave the Dal -tons a real surprise. The guests brought a delicious luncheon which they served. The evening was spent with games. Those present were Commander and Mrs. Jack Iverson, Mrs. Thelma Pulley, president of the ladies auxiliary, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. McNeil, Dr. and Mrs. Guy Richards, Mr. and Mrs. H. Moss, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barratt, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Graff, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Larson, Mrs. Delbert Chipman, Mrs. Stanley Chipman, all of American Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Burton Adams, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Robertson and Mr, and Mrs. Winfield Clark. The Gleaner class of the First ward M. I. A. enjoyed a Christmas party at the home of Beth White, Tuesday evening. Each girl brought an inexpensive gift for some one of the party. The Christmas motif was carried out in the dainty luncheon lunch-eon which followed the playing of progressive games. Members of the ward presidency, Mrs. Berniece Christensen, Mrs. Wanda Black-hurst Black-hurst and Miss Louise West were special guests. Others present were Mrs. Lucille Hillman, class leader; LuJean Olpin, June Pearl West, Beth Adams, Mildred Bezzant, Roxie West, Emma Louise West, Beth White, Lona Walker, Louise 'Green, Ada Robbins and , June West. Each member of the First ward Relief Society who attends the annual an-nual Christmas party, Tuesday, December De-cember 17, will foe asked to bring a gift, the price of which should not exceed ten cents. The social will follow the regular literary lesson les-son which will be given by Mrs. Cora Bezzant. Afterward the gifts will be distributed and light refreshments re-freshments served. iFathers and mothers of children enrolled in either session of the W P A Play School, are invited to attend the Christmas party at the school Friday, December 20 at 1 p. m. A playlet and program will be presented by the pupils under the direction of Mrs. Margaret Dev-eraux Dev-eraux and Mrs. Margaret Meeks. Santa will distribute gifts to each child from the Christmas tree. Children of the W. P. A. Play School , were guests of Mary Jean Walker, Wednesday afternoon, the occasion being her sixth birthday anniversary. She served candy and individual birthday cakes with candles. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Blackhurst, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Harding and Mrs. Gertrude Blackhurst attended the banquet given Wednesday evening eve-ning at the Hotel Newhouse in Salt Lake City, for employees of the Utah-Idaho Sugar company. In attendance at the Scouters convention held at Richfield Saturday Satur-day night were M. S. Christiansen, president of the Timpanogos dis- trict, F. C. ShoeH, chairman of camping, William C. Smith, safety chairman, H. S. Walker and Ert-man Ert-man Christensen, district commissioners. commis-sioners. Mr. Walker was one of the speakers of the Explorer department, de-partment, his subject being "How to Hold the Interest of a Troop." The following members of the Primary stake board attended the Primary convention at Provo on Saturday: Mrs. Rose Radmall, Mrs. Lacy White, Mrs. Emily Pederson, Mrs. Ethel Carlson, Mrs. Janet Mills, Mrs. Fern Smith, Mrs. Melva Richins, Mrs. Vivian Evans, Mrs. Maymetta Johnson, Mrs. Ida Brim-hall, Brim-hall, Mrs. Beryl Rollins, Mrs. Edna Newman, and Mrs. Louise Nielson. President W. W. Warnick was also present. |
