Show Tentative Budget For 1941 Drawn Up By City Council; Hearing Set December 23 r i A tentative budget of $60,178.49 for the year 1941 was drawn up and public hearing on it set for Monday, December 23, by the city council, at a meeting Monday night. The proposed budget was drawn up after a discussion on the financial finan-cial needs of the city for the coming year. Recorder Karl H. Bennett gave an itemized report of each department, de-partment, relative to the anticipated revenues and proposed disbursements. disburse-ments. Complying with legal budgeting requirements the council this year has budgeted for the hospital and library revenues. The $16,500 expected ex-pected to be received at the hospital and the $150 anticipated at the library li-brary are included in the city's estimated esti-mated revenues, and the same amounts are set up as estimated expenditures. ex-penditures. Mrs. Leo G. Meredith and Bishop Joseph H. Storrs of the Community Welfare committee requested that the city decorate public buildings with lights, for the holiday season. The proposal was approved by the council. J. Opal Richardson, manager of the Alpine Bowling Courts, petitioned petition-ed for permission to operate the alleys on Sundays. The matter was taken under advisement, with the police committee to investigate the feasibility of the proposal. Council Leo Nelson reported that he had received a suggestion that the city make a special rate for water used for beauliiicaiion purposes pur-poses for residences. Councilman Henry Pardubn reported re-ported 'that soil was being removed from the mill reservoir, for use later on the city cemetery. After a discussion dis-cussion regarding this work, the council authorized the cemetery committee to continue the removal of the soil. o |
