Show Ward Meetings Prove Interesting Dean Worlton of Lehi, who labored labor-ed in the German mission until he was called, away because of war conditions, gave an illustrated lecture lec-ture for the Manila ward M. I. A. assembly program Tuesday night. He described conditions in Germany gave interesting sketches of customs, cus-toms, and showed lantern slides de-pecting de-pecting life in Germany and Italy. A Christmas music and story program pro-gram was presented as preliminary exercise in the First ward M. I. A. Tuesday evening, Mrs. Berniece Christensen "substituted" for one too ill to take part. DeVere Walker sang. Counselor Verla Wadley presided at the Primary graduation exercises held in Manila ward Sunday night. Presentation of certificates was directed di-rected by Mrs. Margie Wadley, president of the organization. The following graduates from toe Sea Gull class were received into toe Bee Hive group of toe Y. L. M. I. A. by President Effie Adams; Irene Warnick. Hannah Beth ' Monson, Donna Olsen, Carma. Christensen and Sarah Mustus. Trail Builders George Edward Dalton and Warren Harris, having completed Primary work were admitted ad-mitted into toe scout department of toe Y. M. M. I. A. by Merrill N. Warnick of toe bishopric. Group singing was led by Mrs. Orpha Mecham. . The graduates then presented a short program. Irene Warnick spoke on toe Articles of Faith, Carma Car-ma Christensen read a poem, Hannah Han-nah Beth Monson told what toe Primary has done for her, George Edwards gave a boy's idea of toe Word of Wisdom, and Warren Harris Har-ris spoke on the Aaronic priesthood. Don Mack Dalton responded by telling how the work of the Primary organization helps toe parents of young boys and girls. Remarks of appreciation of toe zeal of Primary officers and teachers teach-ers were given by Bishop H. V. Swenson Swen-son and Counselor Merrill Warnick. The Hilton family program presented pre-sented under toe direction of Clarence Clar-ence Hilton in the Third ward Sunday Sun-day night, was well received. The congregational singing was also led by Mr. Hilton. The invocation invo-cation was given by Frea Scholes of toe bishopric. Two sacred musical selections were sung by a quartet which included Mr. and Mrs. Barney Hilton, John and Claire Nell Hilton. A saxophone trio was played by Max Larson, John and Barney Hilton. Mrs. Lowell Richins played the piano accompaniment accompan-iment for all numbers. Barney Hilton spoke on toe importance im-portance of cooperation in family and community life. His wife, Vera Lee Hilton urged a more intensive studv of scriptures as a means of becoming better acquainted with Christ's teachings, which assume new significance this year. A reading was given by Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Hilton. In his closing remarks Bishop Joseph S. Walker expressed appreciation apprec-iation for toe willingness and cooperation coop-eration of the Hilton family whose efforts had resulted in such an entertaining en-tertaining program. The closing prayer was given by Don Hilton. "Finding Oneself" was the theme of toe address given by A. P. War- nick of toe Stake High Council at the Lindon sacrament services, Sunday Sun-day evening. Bishop Leonard Walker presided at toe services which were arranged by William Dittmore. Speakers at the First ward sacrament sacra-ment services Sunday evening were C. A. Gamett former bishop of the ward and his counselor, Lewis Olpln. Mr. Gamett reviewed the origin, toe importance as well as the messages mess-ages contained in the Book of Mormon, Mor-mon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine Doc-trine and Covenants. As a preface to his theme "Keeping "Keep-ing out of Debt," Mr. Olpln told amusing incidents which occurred during his early years in the bishopric. bishop-ric. A flute solo by Lola Jensen, accompanied ac-companied by her father, Irwin Jensen Jen-sen concluded the program which was arranged by Harold Bullock of the bishopric. o |
