Show Present City Roads In Best Condition Of Two Years It was reported at the regular meeting of the city council Saturday, November 23, that considerable work had been done on the city streets and that at the present time they were in better condition than at any time during the past two years- It was further stated that this had been made possible only through the cooperation coop-eration of the County Commission. The recorder was instructed to forward for-ward a letter of appreciation to the county for their assistance. Mejubers of the Better Recreation Club were present and asked the priviledge of opening their club and using the same pending the outcome of the case now before the Supreme Court. They also presented an agreement which they would sign guaranteeing good behavior and al. lowing full police supervision until the case was settled. The matter was referred to the mayor and recorder re-corder to confer with the city attorney attor-ney an to report back before final action was taken. The marshal reported that as yet he had been unable to collect license on the John Robinson Card Room1. He stated that the license was made out for two tables and that Mr. Robinson Rob-inson desired only one table- Inasmuch Inas-much as the license coverej only that which had been applied for the marshal was dnstructej to collect immediately. im-mediately. Considerable discussion arose relative to the location of the new street lamp to be placed on the corner corn-er of 5th North and 1st street. The matter was finally referrej to the council as a whole for investigation. A request for the installation of a street lamp on the corner of 3rd East and 4th South streets was received. re-ceived. After some consideration, the matter was taken under advise, ment until after January 1, 1930. A complaint was received from. S. L. Chipman relative to the dangerous danger-ous condition that existed in the broken culvert down the lane immediately im-mediately west of his property. The question of who was responsible arose .and the matter was finally referred re-ferred to Councilman Storrs to confer con-fer with the Irrigation Board. The matter of having the stumps and cement blocks removed from Center street was referred to the marshal for immediate action. Regular monthly reports of the city officers were read and accepted and bills allowed. |
